TeachingG8 and Global Governance CoursesThe University of Torontos Department of Political Science offers senior-level and graduate seminars on the G8 and global governance. G8-Related CoursesThe University of Torontos International Relations Program and the participating departments of Political Science, History and Economics, together with Peace and Conflict Studies, area studies programs and the Master of Arts Collaborative Program in International Relations, offer a wide array of courses relating to the G8. Field ProgramTo enhance their in-course studies, students join the Research Group each year to participate voluntarily on site at the annual summit as accredited journalists. Here they conduct research and interviews, gather documentation and witness world politics unfold at the highest level. The G8 Reseach Group Co-ordinator, a student member, directs this program. Members of the Research Group also offer lectures, seminars, courses and workshops in the G8 and other countries. Speakers SeriesThe Research Group hosts addresses by such figures as the Honourable Paul Martin, Minister of Finance, Canada; Piero Fassino, Minister of Justice, Italy; Robert Hormats, Goldman Sachs International; Robert Fauver, personal representative of President Clinton to the Summit; and Sir Nicholas Bayne, KCMG, London School of Economics and Political Science. Robert H. Catherwood ScholarshipIn memory of Robert H. Catherwood, editorial page editor of the Financial Post for more than two decades, the Research Group alumni/ae, family, friends and the National Post (formerly the Financial Post) established a scholarship in 1998. Based at Trinity College, it assists University of Toronto students in international relations in their study of the G8. |
