Statement on Lebanon
July 15, 1989, Paris
[Unofficial Translation]
[Français]
The Summit participants have devoted particular attention to the situation in Lebanon and have agreed that the community of nations cannot and should not remain indifferent to the dangers that threaten the very existence of that country.
They express their full support for the Committee of the three Arab Heads of State who are charged with finding a solution to the Lebanese crisis, in conjunction with the mission which the Security Council has entrusted to the Secretary General of the United Nations. They call on all concerned parties to cooperate fully with the Committee in establishing an effective and complete cease-fire and in implementing a political settlement that permits the restoration of State institutions and the adoption of the necessary political reforms.
They affirm their support of the sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity of Lebanon, which presupposes the withdrawal of all non-Lebanese forces.
