Finance Minister Paul Martin will take time out from defending the country in financial markets to meet his counterparts from the other leading industrialized countries in Toronto Feb. 3-4. The meeting will be a regular session of finance ministers and central bankers from the Group of Seven countries and is part of an economic policy consulting process leading to the G-7 summit. The G-7 finance ministers will review recent developments such as the weakness of the Canadian dollar and Mexican peso in foreign exchange markets. Martin's budget is widely expected Feb. 28.
