Public-Private Partnerships
Combining public sector aid with private capital to build on the L’Aquila commitment
Support increasing agricultural productivity, growth in Africa and strengthening food security and nutrition.
Innovation to support investment in infrastructure and scaling up productivity
Outcomes
Reform policies to create room for businesses and private sector investors
Co-ordinate G8 countries in-country activities to support the public/private approach
Move 50 million people out of poverty and hunger in the next 10 years
Accountability System to track progress toward the goal and to hold partners and G8 leaders accountable
Money
Discussions
More cooperation on work streams without substantial new and additional financial commitments from G8 governments
Maintain level of financial commitment from L’Aquila, channel existing efforts
Priorities are the logistical capacity and business talent that companies will contribute as well as direct financial support
Private Sector investment
Outcomes
45 companies will make commitments to invest more than $3 billion in agricultural projects and programs in Grow Africa countries
Monetary support for the Global Agriculture and Food Secuirty Program (GAFSP)
