Grade C
Although the issue of the developing countries` debt has been a very salient one ever since the Cologne Debt Initiative was released, the results of this year`s Heads of State and Government were quite disappointing. There was almost a sense of complacency in the different statements and communiques on that issue. The leaders insisted on the progress made during the past year even though the necessary funding is far from being secured. They should have insisted more on the need to do better and not the progress made. There was no real novelty in this year`s Summit on the issue of debt relief even though it was discussed a lot.
