French G7 Presidency Initiative on Real Estate Resilience for Prosperity Partnership (RER4P)

April 24, 2026
[pdf]

Launch of a French G7 Presidency partnership to improve the resilience and reduce the vulnerability of the real estate sector.

Recognizing that we account for some of the world’s largest and most valuable real estate stocks, we acknowledge that the built environment, including residential and non-residential buildings, related land, infrastructure and environmental assets in our countries and beyond, are exposed to a wide range of natural hazards. These growing risks pose significant threats to the environment, to national and global prosperity, and to the social and economic well-being of our populations, particularly for the most vulnerable communities.

We acknowledge the inherently interdisciplinary nature of these challenges and their far-reaching implications. We further underline the cross-cutting environmental, economic, social and cultural value of strengthening collective action to prevent and reduce, as appropriate, the exposure and vulnerability of buildings, taking into account, associated lands, infrastructures and environment assets, to natural hazards through environmental, urban, architectural, engineering, industrial and construction solutions. While we recognize that solutions, policies and resources are already being mobilized, including at national and subnational levels, these efforts can benefit from enhanced synergies, guided by the best available science, and cooperation to maximize knowledge, visibility, effectiveness and impacts.

The G7 French presidency thereby launches the Real Estate Resilience for Prosperity Partnership (RER4P), affirming support for this new open and inclusive partnership, which will be able to bring together public and private sector representatives, partners and stakeholders, including experts, engagement groups such as Urban 7, relevant international organizations and programs, and civil society, as appropriate.

We highlight the value of RER4P to advancing technical cooperation within the G7 and beyond, notably through exchange on domestic data accessibility and sharing of best practices and solutions. This includes nature-based solutions and enhanced synergies across existing initiatives and institutions. We are confident that, through this partnership, shared experiences will contribute to environmental protection, global prosperity and populations’ well-being.
