G7 Energy Ministers' Communiqué

March 11, 2026
[PDF]

We, the G7 Energy Ministers, held a virtual meeting on March 10 together with the participation of the International Energy Agency (IEA)’s Executive Director Dr Fatih Birol.

We discussed the current conflict in the Middle East, its impact on the world energy sector, oil and gas security of supply, and energy prices, in our respective countries and beyond.

Working alongside the IEA, we are vigilantly monitoring energy market trends and are coordinating within the G7 and with our international partners, IEA Member countries, and beyond.

We warmly welcome today’s meeting of the IEA Governing Board, which provides a crucial opportunity for Member countries to assess the current security of supply and market conditions. In principle, we support the implementation of proactive measures to address the situation, including the use of strategic reserves.

G7 members will carefully consider the recommendations issued during these discussions. We agreed to stand ready to take all necessary measures in coordination with IEA Members
