Timothy M. Shaw, Institute of Commonwealth Studies
Shaw is a professor of Commonwealth governance and development and director of the Institute of Commonwealth Studies. Until recently he also taught political science and international development and was director of the Centre for Foreign Policy Studies at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. He continues to serve as visiting professor at the universities of Mbarara, Stellenbosch, and Western Cape in South Africa, and has held visiting positions in Denmark, Japan, Nigeria, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Shaw has had a number of projects and other professional links with universities in Australasia, the Caribbean, and South Asia, and edits two book series: on international political economy for Palgrave and on the International Political Economy of New Regionalisms for Ashgate.

National Media Systems and International Affairs Coverage [Video]
Takesato Watanabe, Doshisha University, Japan
Watanabe is a professor of media ethics at Kyoto's Doshisha University and has been a visiting scholar at Harvard University. He is co-author, with Adam Gamble, of A Public Betrayed: An Inside Look at Japanese Media Atrocities and Their Warnings to the West (Regnery, 2004). He is also the author of a many Japanese-language books.

Arthur Kent, journalist and film maker
Kent is an author, documentary film maker and journalist who has worked for the world's leading networks and newspapers over the past three decades. Kent is also remembered as the "Scud Stud" for his coverage of the Persian Gulf War for NBC News in 1991. Under the umbrella of Fast Forward Films, Kent has produced several award-winning documentaries.

Can the G8 Stay Together? Prospects for the Gleneagles Summit [Video]
Sir Nicholas Bayne, London School of Economics and Political Science
Bayne is a Fellow at the International Trade Policy Unit of the London School of Economics and Political Science, and author of Staying Together: The G8 Summit Confronts the 21st Century (Ashgate, 2005). As a British diplomat, he was High Commissioner to Canada from 1992 to 1996, Economic Director at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from 1988 to 1992, and Ambassador to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development from 1985 to 1988.

Reaching Out and Up beyond the G8 [Video]
Andrew F. Cooper, Centre for International Governance Innovation
Associate director of the Centre for International Governance Innovation, Cooper is a professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Waterloo and co-editor of – among many other publications – Reforming from the Top: A Leaders' 20 Summit (United Nations University Press, forthcoming) and International Commissions and the Power of Ideas (UNUP, 2005). He has been a visiting professor at Harvard University, Australian National University, and Stellenbosch University in South Africa. He also has been selected as a Canada-U.S. Fulbright Scholar, in the Western Hemisphere Program at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University in 2000 and as Léger Fellow of Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1993–94.
