John Kirton and G8 Research Group release prospects paper on G8 Evian Summit
May 21, 2003

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The G8 Evian Summit will likely be a summit of solid achievement, rather than a historic event that defines a new generation of G8 and global governance, according to John Kirton, Director of the G8 Research Group at the University of Toronto. Kirton has published his annual "Prospects" paper, analysing the issues that will be on the table when the leaders of the G8 industrial markets meet at Evian, France, on June 1 to 3.

The paper is available at https://www.g8.utoronto.ca.

Also available on the G8 Information Centre is the 2002 Kananaskis Interim Compliance Report, which examines the commitments made at Kananaskis, Alberta, when the G8 met last year and how the eight countries have complied with those commitments. An updated compliance report will be posted in the coming weeks.

The G8 Research Group will have a full team of analysts and experts available for interviews on site at the International Media Centre near Evian for the duration of the summit.
